The Faculty Senate Council and the Chancellor have established the Arthur Holly Compton Faculty Achievement Award and the Carl and Gerty Cori Faculty Achievement Award.
The Compton Award is given to a distinguished member of the faculty from one of the six Danforth Campus Schools and the Cori Award to a faculty member from the School of Medicine.
Selection Criteria:
- Outstanding achievement in research and scholarship;
- Recognized prominence within the community of scholars;
- Service and dedication for the betterment of Washington University;
- Respected accomplishments in teaching, whether that be in the classroom, in mentoring, or other pedagogical capacities.
Application Process and Instructions:
- Any full-time, active member of the faculty may submit a nomination in PDF format to facultyachievementawards@wustl.edu
- The nomination packet should include a nomination letter detailing the rationale for the nomination; the nominee’s curriculum vitae; and three supporting letters from individuals acquainted with the nominee’s contributions as a scholar/researcher and teacher
- Nominations are valid for three years and packets should not be resubmitted during that timeframe
- During the three-year period, nominators may submit a maximum one-page cover letter to facultyachievementawards@wustl.edu to report their nominee’s new significant professional accomplishments. This optional letter must be received by February 1 in years two and/or three.
The awardees are announced in the spring of each year. In the fall, both recipients are asked to give an address summarizing his/her outstanding scholarly work. At the time of these presentations, the awardees each receive a $5,000 honorarium.
